Dec. 10- Share on blog, Instagram, Facebook, email a favorite Christmas Memory.

For my Christmas Memory, I have something specific I want to share, but I also want to share just all the things that mom did to make Christmas special.  The one thing I remembered was how good our house smelled all Christmas.  The smell of candy making was in our house the whole month.  I also remembered how she would always let us have a taste of each batch.  Some years, she would make Fruit Cake and although I really didn't like to eat it the smell of it was heavenly.

My specific memory was when I was 7 or 8 years old.  I had asked Santa for a watch, mom had told me she didn't think I was old enough to have a watch.  I told her I would ask Santa and he would bring me a watch.  Mom just kept telling me I wasn't old enough.  Well, Christmas morning came and underneath the tree, was this beautiful watch with a black velvet band.  I thought it was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen.  I ran to mom's bedroom and said, Ha, Ha, Santa thought I was old enough for a watch even if you didn't.  I'm sure she had a good laugh after I left.

  1. My memories are writing Santa and pining it to the couch and just so happy with what ever we got!! Christmas candy walking into the Floradell school and smelling the ham and playing in the gym and running down the hill in the hallway with all the cousins
The cabin with Murray’s was always a good time
I am not sure but i think every year we came home with 12 stuffed animals!!
Just a few but there is definitely a lot more
    Merry Christmas

One of my favorite Christmas memories is when we were little and we would put on our flannel nighties (that would be wrapped around our heads by morning) whoever invented those things ?? Anyway we would write our letters to Santa and pin them to the couch where we wanted Santa to leave our stuff and in the morning it was there and the letter was gone and no matter what was there it seemed to be just what you asked for๐ŸŽ…๐Ÿป
I also loved going to the cabin with the Murray clan and no matter the weather you just went cause you didn’t want to miss it!! I think we just made the kids scream so we could hang out in the bathroom (it was soooo warm in there)
All my memories are ditto with everyone else I just love Christmas!!
    And being with family
    Merry Christmas

Favorite Christmas Memories: Drawing names and opening presents every Christmas Eve, Nic being afraid of opening presents after Karen bought for him 3 years in a row, carebear sleeping bags and slippers (I still wish I had those...) Murray Family party/sleepover at the cabin, sleigh riding down the hill and having chili and cinnamon rolls after at Grams, the Leishman family party and all the drama there including the fun skits that were done, sing-a-longs at Wellsville Elementary- I still sing Silent Night in Japanese thanks to Mr. Jenkins. Bingo at the Lyle's Christmas parties, checking out everyone's loot, remembering Terrill, Jordan, Grandma Lyle and Gramps...lots of memories and lots of fun times. I love this time of year!

Much like others some of my favorite memories were the sleepovers at the cabin with the Murray family. I also really loved Christmas Eve at Grandma's and others houses, the various nativitys and games we would play. On my mission that was what I missed most, but my mom was nice enough to have (possibly force) a lot of the family to write me a small note on a paper ornament for my tree. It made home feel a little closer.

Amen to all that has been said. I have so many wonderful Christmas memories. When we had the Christmas party at the Floradell School, singing the Twelve days of Christmas, and Grandpa or Courtney passing out the presents and how I was scared of them.
The anticipation of waking up the next morning to open presents to see what Santa brought. When it was just Jason and I at home, he would go milk the cows early in the morning and look at everything and then not want to get up early with me to open presents. Buying presents for each other when we drew names. Watching the grandkids excitement when they would open their presents.
But the very best part is that we are together and all the great laughs that we have had over the years. Merry Christmas!!

So many fun memories!! Mostly all the parties and traditions we had/have. Going to the cabin, sledding, cousin gift exchange (I wasn’t very old but I remember Nic getting the leopard underwear), breakfast at bob’s, and going to everyone’s house to see what Santa brought them!!

My Christmas memory was the same as McKensey's (it was pretty funny). Another memory I have is of all those ugly sweaters my mom made us wear to the Christmas party and how we always sang the 12 days of Christmas. Also on my mission, I received a trifle for Christmas so I wasn't left out of the tradition of having trifle for my dad's birthday.

Favorite Christmas memory is all the fun nativity scenes over the years. The one that really sticks out is in the old barn.
Another great memory was always sitting around in a circle in the old house and opening presents with all the cousins. We won't ever forget Nic getting the sexy underwear.

This is a contribution from Nolan, Lori, Aaron & McKensey. One of just our family's favorite memories took place in Idaho while we were depicting the Nativity. We think it was Matt's first Christmas with our family. Matt and Britt were Joseph and Mary. Lori read the part were they all bowed down to worship Jesus. Mary (Brittney) jumped off the chair onto the ground. We were very shocked at (Brittney's) Mary's reaction. Most of the time Mary continues to hold baby Jesus and not throw him down to worship him.
Every Christmas is a favorite when we are all together as a family.

I have a lot of Christmas memories even though I didn't get a lot for Christmas. We would always draw names at Thanksgiving at Grandma's house and we would have to keep our names a secret. It was always fun on Christmas eve to find out who had your name. As every one would come we would all look at the presents to find your name and who had you. We would have dinner and then get to open our present. Grandpa and Grandma always had a color wheel that they put out and it would shine on the Christmas tree and make it different colors. When the family got so big they moved it to the Civic Center (Floradell School) and it just never seemed the same.
