Dec 18 - Share a Grandma Murray Memory

Dec. 18- Share on blog, Facebook, email, etc. something you remember about Grandma Murray.

I know I'm a little late with this, but there are so many things that I remember.  The wooden spoon, home perms, rolling out sugar cookies and she would let me make some little ones, rolling carmels, sleigh riding, eggs and bacon on game days, quilting bees with her sisters (listening to the gossip) and so much more...

One memory that happened just before she died, I had taken her to the doctor and it had been kind of a long day and she was very tired.  The doctor was trying to get her to do something and she would just say she was too tired.  Then when we got home, she just said she was tired and just wanted to sit down for awhile.  Then someone knocked on the door and she said who is that I don't want to see anyone.  I answered the door and it was Jake the physical therapist.  All of a sudden she smiled and said, Oh, it's you come in.  She forgot she was tired and did all the exercises he gave her.  She really liked him, she was trying very hard to impress him!!

I have loved reading what everyone has posted! I will add to the list that I can’t see a crossword puzzle in the paper without thinking about Gram! As my other grandma said of Grams “she knew how to do family.” She truly knew how to be supportive and loving and has left the greatest legacy for us all!

There are so many favorite memories of Grams...the red lipstick on the sacrament cups, hearing her at every ball game-she was always on our side! Her weird eating and drinking habits, her snarky side, her talents, giving us a bag of chips for the walk home on Sundays, pink sugar cookies, the best hiding spots in a home, her side kisses goodbye and her stubbornness. Love you Grams! ❤️❤️

One of my memories is when grandma was trying to teach me how to crochet. I could not get it, and she was so patient with me. We finally gave up and the next day I think she was in the hospital. 😳 she had many talents and now I regret not trying harder or learning them.

This is from JeNae. I remember the quilting parties and the good food we were able to eat for leftovers and the times just quilting or doing other projects with mom and the visiting with her during that time. And at Lake Powell how she didn’t think the life jacket would hold her up and other vacation memories. She made a lot of sacrifices and for that I will always be grateful. She was very supportive in everything.

There are so many memories of mom. Candy making, scones, rolls cookies, quilting, Relief Society home making days and bazaars. One night we were driving home from a ball game and a big bug hit the windshield right in my line of vision. I said, how gross and she said it won't have the guts to do that again. Her sense of humor. I really enjoyed all of the memories that I have of mom and dad living with us for the few months of each year and the places we would go.

One of many memories I remember her always sitting at her sewing machine and either making us a dress or sewing a quilt together she made almost all of our clothes when we were younger. And all the quilt parties !! We can’t talk about that cause what is said at the quilt party stays at the quilt!! Ha ha 😂

My memory is about when she would go visiting teaching. She would always take them candy at Christmas and would always take them some sort of treat the rest of the year. She was such a good example of doing your visiting teaching. Miss you mom!!

I miss so many things about grandma but I think the number one thing is her sense of humor!! All of it...even when you were at the other end of the joke! I loved that she could say the funniest thing and not even crack a smile...but when she did smile it was beautiful and contagious!

Gram loved her water and Diet Pepsi but if there was too much ice she would let you know! I remember on time at Maddox she had “too many” ice cubes in her drink and made my dad use his fork to get the ones she didn’t want out of it! 😂 Love you Gram!

Gram cracks was her own lady!! She had a lot I laughed about; her toast, 'harse' and 'fark', her laps around the pool, and when she'd come to your ball games she'd always be the loudest one in the stands!! Her spending the winters with us was always sure to keep us laughing.

Last night I was think of all the memories of Rena. Which photo do I pick?
This is what my morning toast popped up as. In my hurry to leave this morning I went to scrape it off and decided it was ment to be my memory of Rena. She loved her burnt toast! Abbie even asked me if I burnt it on purpose which I didn't. #JohnandRenaMurrayFamily #murrayfamily2017
